Valley of the Sun Ultimate is putting together a Women's Clinic and Women's Summer League

This is unprecedented!  I'd love to see it happen every summer, but we're going to need numbers.  If there's anyone in LJland with in view of this board that's interested, all the information is behind those links.

Hope to see you on the fields!

Question for those who have played other sports as well as ultimate... [01 Sep 2006|09:25am]

[ mood | curious ]

In addition to ultimate, what other sports have you played?
How does ultimate compare to those sports physically?

I'm primarily interested in hearing from people who have played soccer and other field sports (and basketball), and where ultimate falls in the hierarchy of physical demands.  In what sport do you run more?  Is it sprinting or endurance?  Which is the hardest on the body, excluding injuries?

About Ultimate in Sweden [15 May 2006|01:19am]

crackygumby
Hi hi,
I don't know if any of you can help me, but I thought it'd be worth a shot.
I am looking for some Ultimate in the Malmö, Sweden area. I am living there this summer and I really really really don't want to stop playing Ultimate this summer..

So if anyone can give me some help or direction about the Ultimate frisbee scene in Sweden (especially around Malmö), that'd be killer.

Thanks for the help!

To anyone in the Phoenix, AZ metro:

Fall League will be starting soon! The cost is minimal with lots of great play and beer involved. See VOTS.org for all the details. Also, if you're interested in a discount, let me know. Put me down as your recruiter, and I'll pass my discount on to you. (Let me know first, email me at my LJ addy.) Notably, we're looking for more female players (as always). The discount is bigger and gosh it would be nice to not play games savage.

great tournament [08 Nov 2004|04:43pm]

I just went up to brown this past weekend to play. The tournament was awesome. I ran into so many people who played on teams I used to play against or people who I went to highschool with. Thats one of the things I love about ultimate in the North east you are always running into people you know or who you played against before. It was a great time. I can't wait for spring when the real season gets started.
Also does anyone have any suggestions for training. Since I'm from the south I would just run outside but since I'm in Boston I don't think that will be happening what with the cold and snow. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.

The inventor of the flying disc Ed Headrick died a couple of years ago. His dying wish was for his ashes to be added to the molding of a disc. Discraft made 3000 of the disc. Here is the story.

Hello from the other side of the pond, well at least the other side of the pond to most of you. As a newbie (to lj and this community), I'd just like to say, It'd be great to see more ultimate discussion. To start the ball rolling, I've got a rule query. Does anyone know if its legal for two of you to lift a third member of your team in the air, so he can catch the disc, sort of like a rugby lineout. If you didn't know it was coming it'd be totally undefendable, and you get out of some fairly tight situations very easily.

Thoughts anyone?

[ mood | optimistic ]

The Western Mass Dark Horses, a team within the Ultimate Ultimate Frisbee League of Massachusetts, will be holding tryouts in early June for their summer league activity. There is no fee to play (except for the uniform which won't be more than $18, and you can keep the uniform and have any double digit number you want). Anyone interested in trying out for the 8 remaining spots (there may be more spots if enough people show interest) on the team should contact me, Adam, the captain, at their earliest convenience. Post a comment on this entry with your contact into (IM, phone, e-mail, whatever).

Until Next Time
